We decided to visit historic Williamsburg & Jamestown this year for our family vacation and, of course, I didn’t want to pass up the opportunity to get some snapshots! I really enjoyed Jamestown a little bit more than Williamsburg simply because they had more history information that you could read whereas Williamsburg focused more on guided tours (which was somewhat problematic for us since we were pushing a stroller and the buildings were not made for those!).
With a pass into Jamestown (which I found out is not the actual Jamestown – the original settlement location is about a mile up the road) we were able to walk through an Indian village, the Jamestown settlement, and were able to see the three ships (Nina, Pinta, & Santa Maria) and actually board two of them. All of the ships are recreations, of course! They had some staff in the boats to answer questions and it was very interesting. The walk was very pleasant and not too extensive during our vacation trip to historic Jamestown, Virginia.
There is also a very impressive museum that we spent quite a bit of time in after we were done looking at the outdoor areas. Overall, a very neat experience and would recommend it for a history-rich family vacation! Ps. stay tune for some pictures of Williamsburg!
